Women Working Together - Weaving Green Living into Your Life

July 15th - 20th (register for one day, multiple days, or for the full week)

Leave the stress of your daily existence and relax in a calm, women-only environment where weaving, green living, healthy eating and lively discussions fill your days.

Weaving conjures up beautiful pieces of art – an ancient craft that is still practiced today.  BUT weaving is more then just working fibers together.

Join Annie Warmke and Brenda South, plus other weavers of life for one day, two day, or up to five days of fun.  You can register for one day, two days, three days, four days, or five days individually,  or receive a deep discount for attending with a friend.

Day One (Monday, July 16th)

We begin our experience with a tour of Blue Rock Station.  You’ll learn how we have woven green living into our everyday lives through gardening, fence building, alternative construction, solar, homesteading and lots of other ways.

After a hearty lunch (followed by a proper cup of tea), participants will join up with Brenda South at Log Cabin Weaving for an afternoon of learning about spinning and weaving.  Dinner will be potluck with the main course provided.

Day Two (Tuesday, July 17th)

On the second day, the morning will be spent at the park-like setting at Log Cabin Weaving creating a natural fiber weaving filled with fresh herbs.  Each person will complete a beautiful sampler to take home.

After a hearty lunch you will build your very own solar oven and then we will cook dinner using the sun.  Stay for a shared dinner, or take your oven home to eat with your family.

Day Three (Wednesday, July 18th)

On the third day everyone will gear up for a trek with the llamas at Blue Rock Station to experience how these gentle and versatile critters have been woven into the daily fabric of this green living center.

Each person will have an opportunity to groom and prepare these magnificent creatures for the hike.  Lunch will be carried by the llamas on an hour-long trek in the woods of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.   This is an all-day adventure with an easy pace (total walking time is around 1 ½ hours), beautiful surroundings, and an opportunity to experience Blue Rock Station in a unique way.  For those staying over, dinner is potluck with the main course provided.

Day Four (Thursday, July 19th)

On the fourth day, Brenda South will lead a day-long workshop on weaving on the looms at Log Cabin Weaving.  Each person will make a beautiful dish towel.  Lunch will be catered and end with dessert and a proper cup of British tea.  For those staying over, dinner is potluck with the main course provided.

Day Five (Friday, July 20th)

On the fifth day we will be back at Blue Rock Station.  In the morning we will learn about how to weave health into our cats, dogs and horses through herbs, food and using pressure points.  Learn how easy it is to restore your pets to vibrant health using a raw food diet, natural herbs and minerals that allow their own immune systems to fight and prevent disease.

In the afternoon we will focus on natural gardening.  Annie will share some of her techniques that are outlined in her booklet, as well as demonstrate lots of ways to recycle, reuse, and repair in the garden – showing how she weaves everything together to grow food and feed the visitors at Blue Rock Station.  Lunch will be served as part of the workshop.

Spend the rest of the evening getting to know each other over  a discussion of the principles of green  living and how those apply to everyday  life in the modern world.

About the  Women-Build Leaders:

Annie Warmke has led women-only delegations all over the world, taught classes on a variety of subjects to women, and has a vast experience in creating fun learning adventures.  She served as the contractor for the BRS Earthship build and has spent a lifetime (it seems) pounding tires, plastering walls and laying up can walls.  With over 10 years of solar cooking experience, she’ll is eager to show how to cook with the sun.

Brenda South is the owner and operator of Log Cabin Weaving, located at Carlwick, OH.  She considers herself to be a “shepherdess” and loves raising sheep, and natural fiber weaving.   Besides a park-like setting - well worth the visit just for this - she is an expert at teaching how to use the three different looms in her shop.  Brenda will also serve as the chief cook and bottle washer for the noon meals.

Donna Farley owns 10 acres on Poverty Ridge (yes there is actually a road by that name nearby) where she lives “off the grid” with her horse and dog.  In her professional life she is a massage therapist with humans and has 13 years of experience in using accupressure to help cats, dogs and horses achieve healthier immune systems.  Donna is a master at showing humans how to use pressure points and herbs to build healthy immune systems and achieve greater health.

Women of all ages are encouraged to attend -  You don’t have to be physically strong to enjoy the five days of fun learning - just having a willing heart will enable you to get what you need from the experiences.   Mothers and daughters, co-workers, granddaughters and grandmothers and friends or just come on your own - either way you will go home refreshed and happy from the time spent.

Workshop logistics (such as what to bring, where to stay, meals, local attractions, directions, and the like).
