Scout Troop Ideas
We love to have Scouts visit us here at Blue Rock Station. We can plan a program that will enable your troop to earn a badge in areas such as recycling.
For a basic fee of $4 per child, we can provide the tour of the station. Tour lasts about 1 hour or a little longer. You and your group will have a chance to visit with the llamas, feed the rare breed chickens, check out the straw bale buildings, the natural fences, and explore the earthship.
If you would like to add other activities then the cost would go up slightly.
We can do creative waste games where your scouts work in a team to use clean garbage to create a game (add $1 per child and about 30 minutes).
We can do a special talk on the eco-systems that live at Blue Rock Station and natural gardening techniques (add $1 per child and about 30 minutes).
Or add on a llama workshop to learn the history of llamas, how to groom and care for them, then go for a walk in the woods (your scouts can take turns leading the llamas) to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and cookies in the Great Beech Tree Grove (add $5 per child and about 1 1/2 hours). Along the way we'll tell stories about the area and point out different aspects of the woodlands.
And/or we can provide tea and cookies in vintage tea cups to talk about how to drink and pour tea properly (add $1 per child and 30 minutes).
As you can see, we have many options and can tailor the event to meet your group’s needs. Just telephone Annie at (740) 674-4300 if you have other ideas or need more information.
