The Girl Scouts - Heart of Ohio chapter have arranged a number of events only for their members. Similar events can be created for your troop or school group.
Dec. 27 1 – 3 PM
Cheese Making: Learn how to make simple delicious healthy cheese to use in soups, as spreads or as a starter for other more aged cheeses. Girl Scout and Cadet
Cost $10 each includes tour and snacks
Jan. 21 1 – 4 PM (3 workshops in one)
Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Respect and Recycle - learn some basic uses for the principles that guide life at Blue Rock Station. You can learn how to compost, reuse common household items, repair or recycle something cool.
Crafts from Garbage – learn about recycling by making a game or a bird feeder out of clean junk that normally would be thrown away.
Beautiful Bugs - learn all about the bugs that live in the garden and house at Blue Rock Station - the helpful ones and the not so helpfuls. Daisy, Brownie, Girl Scout - Cost $10 each includes tour, all three topics listed here and snack

Soup Starters and Other Fast Food Techniques used at BRS: Learn some basic skills to create healthy fast food. Girl Scout and Cadet – Cost $10 includes tour and food

The Art of Cooking with Herbs: Learn some of the basics of growing, preserving and cooking with healthy plants that add zest and taste to even the simplest meals.
Setting a Nice Table: Learn the basic art of bringing family and friends together in a way of honoring the meal and your time together - manners, serving and all.
Girl Scout and Cadet – Cost $10 includes tour and food
March 1 st 1 – 3 PM
Seed Saving and Starting: Learn the basics of starting those spring or summer plants necessary for great herbs or garden plants. Girl Scouts and Cadets $10 includes tour and snack
March 8th 1 – 3 PM (two workshops in one)
Bird Field Study – be a real scientist as you go along the bluebird trail to observe how the bluebirds at Blue Rock Station are using their boxes (help BRS keep their field notes on these amazing creatures).
Beginning birding - take a trek in the woods at BRS to learn how to listen and identify common birds that live in Southeastern Ohio. Brownies, Girl Scouts and Cadets – Cost is $15 includes tour and snack
March 9th 10 AM – 2 PM
Sketch the views at BRS: the llamas will haul the snacks and drinks and you’ll be guided to some beautiful vistas for drawing or gazing. Brownies, Girl Scouts and Cadets – Cost $25 for girls and $35 for adults – 1 adult free – includes trek and three-course meal
March 29th 1 – 3 PM (two workshops in one)
Llamas & Goats - The Theory of "Poo" – Learn all about the ruminants at Blue Rock Station. You’d be amazed at how much you can tell about how they think, eat and live – all through the study of poo.
Composting: just another word for the rotting process – Learn how Blue Rock Station re-uses all of the stuff that rots to make great dirt – study bugs and worms. Brownies and Girls Scouts – Cost $10 includes tour and snack

Cooking with Sun Blue Rock Station Style - learn the secrets of solar cooking as you build your own efficient cooker to take home.

April 12th 10 AM –2 PM
Lamas 101: Learn everything you wanted to know about llamas – grooming, basic health care and the art of being leader of the herd. Practice leadership first hand while on the trek with the BRS llamas. Includes the workshop, the trek, a three-course meal and a tour of the farm plus Ohio’s first Earthship. Girl Scout and Cadets – Cost - $25 for girls and $35 for adults – 1 adult free
April 13th 1 – 3 PM (two workshops in one)

Earth Day Blue Rock Station Style – Take a tour of Ohio’s first Earthship and learn how Annie Warmke, our own local woman scientist learned how to be a leader, a builder, an activist, a teacher, a mom, a grandma and much more. Annie’s talk will begin at 11 AM and tea will be served at noon. Tours: 11:30, 1:30 and 2:30. Food is available for purchase.
