Rosie’s “Going to the Dogs” Page
Rosie, the recycled, repaired, French-speaking spokesdog of
Blue Rock
Station
Rosie arrived at Blue Rock Station one day, wandering up
to provide a bit of supervision as we dug a pond. It was clear that she had lived a hard life. Her jaw was broken, her hip was dislocated and she was almost starved to death.
After a bit of food and a lot of love - Rosie decided that Blue Rock Station belonged to her. She soon took up her job of keeping squirrels away, greeting school children, and playing with the kittens.
Rosie learned all her commands in French, so next time you visit - just shout "Rosie, Ici! (ee cee)" if you want her to come to you. She will sit if you say "Assez! (ass ay)"
Is Rosie a Chicken Killer?
Twice we have found Rosie chewing on a dead chicken. But we have never seen her actually chase one of them. Both times there were other dogs around that might have killed the chicken. What do you think?
School Kids Come to Visit Rosie -
Rosie believes that the hundreds of kids that come to visit Blue Rock Station come only to see her. Often she even tries to sneak home with them. Can you find Rosie in this class?
Rosie's Friends -
Rosie helps the sick kittens. One day Annie and Catlyn came home with two tiny very sick kittens from the animal shelter. The shelter had given up on the kittens since they were really sick... but not Annie and Catlyn.
Rosie could hardly wait to see the tiny little bundles of fur. She wanted to give them a bath. When they climbed up on her, she stayed still so she wouldn't knock them off.
When the next tiny kittens came to Blue Rock Station to get well Rosie made friends with Chica - one of the sickest kittens Annie had ever helped. After lots of herbs and garlic and other goodies, Chica got better. Rosie would walk up to Chica and push her with her big black nose. Chica wasn't afraid and she would lie down on her back and use her hind feet to turn a circle.
Rosie would then hop up and down, but still Chica wasn't scared. Today Chica is a beautiful butterscotch-colored
Maine Coon Cat who still loves
to play with Rosie.

Talk with Rosie! Ask her a question and she will respond by e-mail (please forgive her spelling - she is a dog after all...)
