Blue Rock Region Created For Local Tourism

Tourism is a vital part of economic development, especially here in Southeastern Ohio. A couple of local residents have spearheaded a plan to push local tourism even more.

What will soon be coined the “Blue Rock Region” is home to many things. Including Ohio’s first Earthship, a home made entirely of eco-friendly goods. Annie Warmke and her husband are the creators and builders of the home and also advocated of promoting more local tourism; or as Annie calls it, Micro-tourism.

Micro-tourism is the idea that there are a number of small companies or even individuals that are doing things to attract the tourist dollar and we certainly have those here in Muskingum County and in this area particular, between Duncan Falls and McConnelsville.

Warmke says if local tourism picks up, it can only be better for our local economy. The Blue Rock Region motto is  “Full of Heritage and Culture” Warmke describes a few of the places people should really take advantage of.

There’s a lock smith shop by Duncan Falls, there’s certainly camping and places you can bring your RV. There’s a wonderful Bed and Breakfast at McNutt Farms out at the Cabin at the Orchard.
