The Llamas of Blue Rock Station

14 November 2004

The first of what we hope to be many llamas arrived today, delivered by Bob Johnson of Hillcrest Farms.

First out was Baxter, a dirty white fellow with the classic "banana" ears.  Not far behind is his friend JoJo, a coffee colored little guy (just born last February).

JoJo had a rough start in life, his mother died just after he was born.  Normally breeders allow young male llamas in this situation to die - as a bottle-fed male llama can get aggressive with humans.

But JoJo was adopted by another llama and managed to grow into a lovely young adolescent despite the odds against him.

Both males have been gelded.
