Eating, drinking, breathing and living green…if you’re reading this you are probably already talking and attempting to walk a greener more sustainable life.
Maybe you’re not sure how to take the next step towards a bigger dream, or a greener life – like the one that led you to take a workshop with Annie and Jay.
The day has come for revival and renewal... a fun day of discovery – a day of exploring the world you knew as a child - a day of noticing things, watching the natural systems, seeing how you fit into this greater picture.
Green Living is much more than separating your recyclables or replacing your light bulbs with compact florescent. It is a mind set. It is a shift from…
- competition to partnership
- greed to caring
- feelings of scarcity to feelings of sufficiency
- reliance on outer sources of "authority" to inner sources of "knowing"
- viewing the world as a mechanical system to viewing it as a living system
- separation to wholeness -- a fresh recognition of the interconnectedness of all aspects of life and reality.
But how do you find that connectedness? How do you begin this shift?
You begin by rediscovering some of those simple chores and pleasures your ancestors took for granted. AND then creating a simple plan that enables you step into a future you created, not one that is defined for you.
During your visit you will learn about good old-fashioned tried and true farm skills such as canning, yogurt making, seed starting… and so much more. AND explore the future of renewable energy… from passive solar to local production. Along the way you’ll discover how to create a greener attitude in your everyday life – not by giving up your comforts, but by incorporating the parts that appeal to you – one step at a time.
Topics we’ll explore:
- Green at Home: Cutting energy costs, using leisure time, balancing life, transportation, everyday chores and more.
- Green at Work: Energy awareness, consumption/waste, transportation, economic issues, and more
- Green Family: Traditions, leisure time, consumption/waste, balance of life, food, everyday chores, economics, energy awareness and more
- Personal Green: Goals for the future, food, health, leisure and balance of life.
- Friends: Leisure and balance of life.
We’ll also explore:
- How to turn off the TV
- How to prepare healthy fast food meals
- Alternatives to the medical model
- Goal setting to work towards zero waste
- Local shopping and how to use it to benefit you and your community
All this will take place at Blue Rock Station in the relaxing setting of Ohio’s first Earthship (a self-sufficient home made of tires and cans and mud). Sit overlooking the hills of Appalachia, sip a proper cup of tea and relax. Join us from a much-needed break from the world.
