Testimonials

"We loved spending an afternoon with you and the birds, bees, animals and interns at BRS.

Thank you for our hospitality, your hard work filled with honest hope, your common sense talk, your integrity and sense of possibility with where we are and what is possible."

Straw Bale Cabin - The MayApple

PDF Print E-mail

During our 7-Day Complete Straw Bale Workshop - we try to construct a relatively small project pretty much from start to finish.  The MayApple (all the buildings are named by the group that constructs them) was built during the 2009 workshop and finished by the 2010 class (with a little help from our interns).

This sleeping cabin in a variation of the original Firefly design - just a bit larger with a screened in front porch area.  The cabin is located down in the woods along the llama trails.  It also features two single beds (bunk beds) and a stone floor.

This cabin is a great little get-away place to stay for a Green Skill Building Weekend Workshop - or during one of our longer workshops (such as the straw bale weekends or the 7-day strawbale workshop).  It is available to rent - simply give Annie a call (at 740-674-4300 or contact us through the website).

Building a Tire Foundation:

In building our Earthship, we discovered the amazing potential for rammed earth tires in building.  We now use this technique for most of our small buildings.
