Tea & Talk Series:
Victorian Cottage Garden Workshop

Saturday - March 18th   (11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)

Join columnist Annie Warmke for a cup of tea and a talk about her English Cottage Garden and other current garden projects in the unique surroundings offered by Blue Rock Station.

If you are an avid gardener, a beginner or just love beautiful gardens - this event is for you.

Tour Blue Rock Station:
First stop is a stroll around the grounds of Blue Rock Station - home of Ohio's first Earthship, an amazing home made of tires, cans, bottles and earth.  During the summer there will be a variety of projects to view including a plastic bottle greenhouse and the espalier wall.  You will tour the home for an insight into how this structure uses the sun and the earth (as well as various bits of "trash") to create a warm and welcoming home.

Settle in for a light lunch:
Then you will have a chance to get to know other guests while you sit down to a delicious lunch (made from local and BRS-grown produce) in the strawbale greenhouse overlooking the hills of southeastern Ohio.

Then tea and a presentation:
After dessert and a proper cup of tea, Annie Warmke will talk about different types of Victorian cottage gardens, and how to create one of your own.  She will show slides of cottage gardens  taken during her visits to some of the finest gardens in England and France - as well as the Chelsea Flower Show, held in London  which will offer tons of ideas for future gardens.

Each month there is a different theme but you will have an opportunity to discuss some of the current and ongoing projects within the gardens of Blue Rock Station.  Check to see if you will need to wear special shoes for visits to the gardens.

The focus of this talk will be...
How to Create a “Proper” Cottage Garden (The straw bale Green House will still be under construction so the luncheon will be held inside the house in an intimate setting - so space is limited.)

The cost for each event is $15 per person.  The fee includes the talk, lunch, a tour of Blue Rock Station, as well as a proper cup of tea.  You can attend one luncheon or join the Blue Rock Station Heirloom Garden Club  and attend any or all of this series or gardening workshops at a discount.

The Garden Club will offer other workshops, events and discounts.   (Not recommended for folks under age 11 - not because we are going to say anything "naughty" - just that gardening is not exactly the most exciting topic for folks that age and they may get a bit restless.)

Please reserve your spot by March 10th  so that you will not be disappointed.   For reservations call us at (740) 674-4300, e-mail Annie@bluerockstation.com or register instantly and pay by credit card by clicking the little buttons below...
