Rare Breed Chickens - 1 week old
During the first week, the chicks were still happy to stay under their lamp and did not attempt to venture out of the box. Just beginning to grow feathers, they were not even thinking of flight.
We also began to speculate as to which were the roosters and which were the hens. Annie was sure the aggressive (and mean) chicks must be male (and she turned out to be right).
It was amazing how much noise these little peepers could generate. Then, all at once, they would take a collective nap.
