wp35ebdc84.gif "Thank you, the lunch was awesome, its nice for you to take the time to promote all the things that you do, buying local, health, composting, saving the environment with use of washable items I personally thought it was a nice touch; it impacted me to think a bit deeper into the "thinking green" thing, I try but it made me think more. Thank you!!! Oh yea, of course the class was great for its purpose. Thanks to both of you for your information, I look forward to attending more classes and getting to know you more. “

Earthships 101 - A backstage, in-depth tour and discussion of the practical aspects of building your own Earthship and living in natural buildings

Sunday - April 18th  (1 - 4 p.m.)

ADDITIONAL CLASS NOW OFFERED -

Sunday - May 2nd (1 pm - 4 pm)

Our first class sold out so early, we decided we needed to add a second sesson (May 2nd).  Register early as class size is limited to 12 students (so you get the most out of the experience).

This is the year when Earthships and living green become the “in” thing to do.  Spend the day at Blue Rock Station to learn more the basics of Earthship concepts.

Ever thought about building your own Earthship-type structure?  You can take a tour of Blue Rock Station, home of Ohio’s first Earthship to learn the techniques used to:

  • Capture water for inside the house
  • Create indoor grey water catchment
  • How to use wetlands effectively
  • Create mud plaster
  • Pound rammed-earth tires to create the basic structure of the Earthship

You’ll also have an opportunity to view Earthship design plans, ask questions about the basics of design, discover area professionals who could serve as professional resources, and take a tour of Ohio’s first Earthship.

This is the first time this workshop has been available.  Normally this type of information is provided in a consulting setting at a fee of $75 per hour.

Earthship & Sustainability Tours:

Re-thinking is the first step in your journey to create a sustainable living way of life.  Take a  tour of the 2,200 square foot house  that utilizes tires, cans, old barn wood, bottles, straw bales and mud to form a home heated by the sun, earth and wood.

Learn about the struggles and victories involved in building an Earthship:

  • Zoning
  • Health inspections
  • Plumping
  • Electrical
  • Cistern use
  • And much more…

You’ll have a pleasant time in the countryside at Blue Rock Station, meet some interesting people and enjoy high tea at the end of the time together.

Reservations are a must to avoid disappointment.  Be sure to bring along some sturdy work gloves, wear sensible shoes that can survive mud, and sun glasses, if it is a sunny day.
